June is Aphasia Awareness Month

This June is Aphasia Awareness month which aims to educate people about Aphasia. Aphasia is a symptom not a disease. It can be acquired due to brain damage after a stroke and affects the persons ability to speak and understand others. It is estimated that 80,000 people in Australia suffer from Aphasia (SPA, 2010).
